Rebecca is a seasoned attorney practicing in all aspects of real estate law. Rebecca uses her extensive experience in both the public and private sectors to counsel clients in issues related to all facets of real estate law, including multi-million dollar commercial property acquisitions and dispositions (transactions); title and survey review; easements; land development; land use and zoning matters; curing zoning violation orders; land, office, retail, industrial, and wireless leasing (DAS, pole attachments, and WiFi); condominium; eminent domain; and annexation.
She handles complex commercial real estate transactions, including counseling clients on zoning/land use issues, assessing site utility and access issues, drafting and negotiating all transaction agreements and documents, securing necessary land use entitlements and permitting, advising clients on due diligence items, analyzing title to property, and closing the transaction. Relative to her zoning and land use work – from developing and implementing the most effective strategies to support client objectives and business operations to securing various land use permits and approvals – Rebecca has appeared before many central Ohio (and beyond) municipal, township, and county planning commissions, boards of zoning appeals (adjustment), graphics commissions, neighborhood and civic groups, and city councils, township trustees, and boards of county commissioners. Previously, Rebecca worked for a large national law firm practicing in real estate law, and she served as the Assistant General Counsel for the State of West Virginia, Department of Administration where she provided counsel to 16 division directors, including the Real Estate Division, Purchasing Division, Public Employees Insurance Agency, and the Technology Division and the Cabinet Secretary to the Department of Administration and handled all real estate legal matters for the department. In addition, she was appointed as Legal Counsel and Executive Secretary to the Public Land Corporation, responsible for mineral rights and oil and gas leasing and state-owned property dispositions.
Rebecca graduated with honors, Cum Laude, with a BA in political science, with a minor in psychology from Otterbein College (now University) in 1999. In 2005, Rebecca graduated from Capital University Law School with her law degree, and became licensed to practice law in Ohio the same year. Rebecca is also licensed to practice law in West Virginia (since 2008), and is a licensed real estate agent in Ohio (since 2006).
During her college years, Rebecca was involved in, or obtained the following awards: The Kappa Phi Omega Sorority, Pan Hel Council, Peer Career Advising, Academic Discipline Appeals Council, Otterbein Scholarship, Endowed Scholarship, and PAC fundraising intern in Washington, D.C. During law school, Rebecca was involved in, or obtained the following awards, extern with the Ohio Secretary of State, Elections Division, externship with U.S. District Court Judge, Honorable George Smith of the Southern District of Ohio, and two-time extern with the David Thomas National Center for Adoption and Policy, Trustee’s Merit Scholarship, and Farnham Mosley Scholarship.
Rebecca was also selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants as a prestigious member (and, thought leader) of the 2023 CREW Network Council - Affordable Housing Council.
Rebecca is a member of the Columbus Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, Columbus Real Estate for Women (CREW), and Urban Land Institute (ULI).
